He wants all of her, and is determined to prove he’s what she needs in her life.
Elle is fiery, loyal, and in major lust with Colin Sloan. He’s everything she craves in a man -- smart, sexy, kind -- and a rock star between the sheets. But his past hits too close to home for her, and the people she has to protect. There isn't room in her life for a relationship with Colin. Eve Hart's Romance Review:
This is the second book I've read in this series and I can honestly say Lauren Blakely has made me fall in love with the Sloan family - and not the sisterly kind of love, neither.
This is the story of the tattooed Sloan brother, Colin, the one who had serious issues with alcohol and drugs in his past. Thankfully, he's turned his life around and is looking to make Elle a permanent part of his life. Elle has serious problems with addicts in her past so she is a little gun shy with Colin, despite the OFF THE CHARTS hot sex they have. Sure, he's AMAZING in bed (though they rarely make it to a bed), but once an addict always an addict, right?
I love that Colin turned his life around, made healthy choices, and pursued Elle with a tenderness that stole my heart. I love that Elle was willing to give Colin a chance despite her misgivings, and I love that she was so dedicated to her son. It hit close to home -- I'd do anything to protect my sons. Anything. I appreciated that Ms. Blakely created secondary characters that added depth to the story without stealing the show.
The incarcerated mother is SERIOUSLY messed up. She made terrible choices, a LOT of them, and she deserved what she got - prison time, with a heaping helping of familial disdain and hatred. As a mother, I cannot understand how this woman put her own desires before that of her own children. Sure, she SAYS she was trying to protect them, but I cannot see how that is the truth. Maybe I'm missing something. Maybe more will be revealed in Michael's story. Maybe...
The mystery and pinch of suspense was perfect -- it added just the right amount of thrill to the plot without taking over completely and turning it into a Allison Brennan tale (I do love me some Lucy Kincaid).
The sex was SCORCHING, and the only reason I didn't give this book 5 Pulse Points was because I felt Sinful Desires (Ryan and Sophie's story) set the SCORCHING SEX bar really high.
I will be reading the rest of this series (except for Shannon's story. I don't care about her romance. Not into married couple reunion stories).
