About the Book:
Caroline Hawkins has no interest in marriage. In fact, she has devoted her life to defending women from the indignities visited upon them by their husbands. She only chaperones her beautiful younger sister to Summerton’s ball in the hopes of saving her family from bankruptcy. She certainly doesn’t expect to catch the Duke’s eye . . . nor is she prepared for the heat that rises every time she thinks of his powerful build or his dark, tantalizing gaze. Caroline can run, but she cannot hide—for Ashton has already captured her heart.

I'd Rather Catch Ebola...
The hero was an immature idiot. He wasn't an alpha, he wasn't a beta, he was a dumbass.
The trope of the book is the typical--DUKE: I need a wife, I'll choose a biddable lady, but I really choose the harridan with the big tits. AND--SPINSTER: I can never get married, I'm too old and ugly, marriage is for ignorant sluts, I'm too good for marriage, I don't need a man to open my door for me, but OH that man is sexy, even though he should marry my sister. Damn we got caught having sex at a ball, guess I'll marry him even though I won't like it and make him miserable the whole time just because I can...
Yeah...THAT kind of story.
How DARE the blurb writers compare this poorly thought out miasmic detritus with Mary Balogh and Eloisa James. I KNOW Eloisa personally (she's a GREAT dancer), and she can write circles around this author and this story.
I DNFed this book at 20% because 21% was just too far a distance to drag my bruised and bloody literacy.
