About the Book:
When the Duke of Lennox hires Sir Brook Derring, England’s best investigator, to find his daughter, Brook intends only to rescue the lady and return to his solitary life. He deals with London’s roughest criminals every day of the week; surely he should be able to endure seeing his first love again—the perfect girl who broke his heart...
Now her life depends on him
Lady Lillian-Anne Lennox has always done her best to live up to her father’s standards of perfection—at the cost of following her heart. When she’s kidnapped and her perfect life is shattered, Lila has another chance. Together, Lila and Brook navigate not only the dark and deadly side of London, but the chasm of pride and prejudice that divides them.

I Loved a Rogue Named Brook
Shana pulled me into the lives of the Covent Garden Cubs in the first book of the series, and in this book I was pleased that Sir Brook Derring got his love story.
Lady Lila was a straight up snobby bitch when she was a young, promising debutante, but over the years, she lost her friends, her reputation, and her desire to marry up. Brook fell in love with the young Lila and proposed, but was dropped like a hot, slimy rock. Broken hearted, he turned his back on Lila and her family and moved on.
Years later, suddenly Lila needs him, and he refuses to help her until the king forces his hand. He ends up married to the one woman he once loved, but now hates.
I enjoyed re-entering the lives of Marlowe and Gideon, and I giggled a bit reading Lila's thoughts. She was a breath of fresh air, and reading Brook's thoughts and feelings for her made me angry but also sad for him at the same time.
Shana, you wrote a delicious, delightful, and devilish story. Thank you!
The ups and downs, chases and catches, sexy bits and heart-aching bits... I loved this story. I just might re-read it again in the next few months.
I received this book through NetGalley.
