About the Book:
For Aelissm Davis, Northstar has always been home. She hoped she’d return someday, but not like this—exhausted by fast-paced city life and shadowed by an obsessive friend. Stubborn and independent, Aelissm likes to handle her own problems, but with Adam Winters, she may be in over her head. It’s time to swallow her pride and call in reinforcements. Her meddling uncle’s solution—send his best deputy to Montana to protect her—makes Aelissm think he has more on his mind than her safety. The last thing she needs is another complication, and with those sad eyes and a gentle heart, Deputy Pat O’Neil is definitely that. Still, there’s something irresistible about the haunted man, and as her focus shifts from avoiding Adam to helping Pat overcome his demons, a different kind of problem arises. When his “vacation” is over, will she be able to convince him to stay?

Where Angels Fear to Tread…The DNF Pile
While I enjoy the descriptive scenery as I follow them through the wilds and fields of Montana, there is such thing as too much. A mental snapshot is all I needed to get the picture, not a full on Monet. I fought my way to chapter 13 but had to stop in order to save my brain from shutting down due to exhaustion. There could have been a bit more character development when it came to the antagonist and less tertiary characters. I felt as if I had to play Ten Degrees of Separation in order to understand who knew whom and how. Although this is my first book from the author, I will try another of her works to give her a fighting chance to win me over.
