About the Book:
Ella has grown used to the casual cruelty of her stepsisters, the complete control her wicked stepfather exerts, and the exasperating way the birds and the mice keep bothering her while she's trying to do her (extensive) daily chores. But with the big July Fourth celebration coming up in Everland, she's determined to make her sisters the prettiest dresses possible so that they'll finally get married and move out of her life. But she doesn't count on a chance meeting with a handsome shopkeeper...
Having lost a leg at Gettysburg, Ian Crowne knows that he's no princely catch. He's got his store and his dogs, so he's satisfied...until the day when an enigmatic stranger captures his imagination and his heart. Now they're both dreaming of each other and wishing on stars, and the celebration is only days away...

A Magical Retelling of a Classic
Ian was a great male lead character. He is most certainly a different take on the timeless Prince Charming. He has his own demons as well as being haunted by the ghosts of battles long fought. He has a hard shell tp protect his tender heart. But once he and Ella’s paths cross, he can’t think or dream of another ad he hopes that she can see the man underneath the wounded package.
When Ella steps into Ian’s mercantile, she is drawn to the handsome man behind the counter. Every time that they spend stolen time together their feelings grows and blossoms. The attraction felt on both sides are, to put it simply, magical. Much like the series progenitor, Little Red, I could not read the book fast enough.
I felt bereft when I had to join the real world because of Caroline’s ability to hook and ensnare the reader throughout the whole story. I loved the mysterious stranger, who in essence played the role of the fairy godmother. I cheered on Ella and Ian as they showcase their love for all to see and eventually an almost “nobody puts baby in the corner” moment at the end. I wanted to boot the stepfather in his “controller” and backhand Ella’s stepsisters. I can’t wait to dive into the next book in the Everland Ever After series.
