Here’s something you might not know about the first two books…
Book one, The Diva and the Duke, took me two years to write. Book two, The Rancher and the Renegade, took 9 months to write – sorry, I’m a slow writer.
Well, I’ve been click-clacking away at the computer keys, because I know I have people waiting to read about Perez, Elleane, Ooma, and all the delicious and terrible things that will happen in the third and final book, The Passion and the Prince, book three of The Three Goddesses Series.
I know you’re waiting, but there’s something you need to know… It takes longer than you think to write a book. Yeah, I know, there ARE authors who can crank out a new book a month, and they are making serious bank doing so, but there are those of us who have days jobs and other obligations that make it impossible to spend hours a day writing. I write when I can, which has made writing novel-length books a slow and deliberate process.
Good news! I do plan to have The Passion and the Prince ready for your consumption by the end of the year, so there’s that—and here is an exclusive first look at what I’m working on:
A soft, teasing pulse of energy brushed against him. His mind stirred, a shadow of consciousness flickered to life, clawing itself up from a dark, death-like languor. Sounds. Voices – no, one voice, whispering to him, tickling his ear, slipping into the blankness of his mind to taunt him, to pull him from the blackness…the blackness…his home for…
The voice turned pleading, urgent, its intensity rising. His mind focused, his eyes peered into the empty, echoing space around him, seeking the source, the message…
What was it saying?
Who is that?
A giggle answered him.
What do you want?
“It has begun.” A sweet, tinkling voice slid over him, bathing him in warmth.
Begun? What…? His memory, long dormant, fought for clarity.
One last…one last task… The warmth along his skin intensified, burning hotter, licking at his flesh.
Pain, searing agony, tore through him, stealing his breath, snatching at the flickering flame of his soul…a soul so very close to vanishing forever.
How long have I been here? How many years…
Again, the pain pierced him, grabbing his heart in its grip, squeezing and pressing and pulverizing.
He cried out. His screams bouncing back to him, vibrating through the confines of his vessel.
“Wake up, human, I need you to focus. Time is ticking away.” It was a voice he’d never heard before but immediately recognized.
“Ooma.” His voice, thick and dissonant from over a century of muteness, cracked.
“No time for chit-chat, slave.”
His body ignited, an invisible fire engulfed him. Images assailed him, slamming into his mind, filling every corner with thoughts, impressions, knowledge. One last info dump. One last task.
“I’ve given you what you need to begin. So get going.” Ooma’s voice dissipated, leaving him alone once again.
Alone…for so long.
Gathering his mounting power around him, he discharged a blast of energy from the tarnished golden pocket watch imprisoning him, seeking the one person, the last person, the only person, standing between him and his freedom.
One last task…
