The challenges of paranormal beings living among humans in secrecy intrigues me. How do they blend? How do they adapt and what happens when they don’t? As for paranormal species, I started writing shifters, but of course, vampires had to be in there because vampires are hot. They’d tell you so themselves. Once the series wrapped up for The Sigma Menace, I still had shifters who needed their story told. But those demanding vampires! I decided to split them into two series. New Vampire Disorder splits off with the vampires I’ve grown to love as they battle demons (because Larissa Ione made demons hot). Pale Moonlight sticks with the shifters. Each story is a stand-alone read, though it helps to have read the first series.
All my characters have some association to the policing body of their kind. It was a natural development since I married a soldier who was worked as a cop for a few years. I’ve spent the last twenty years listening to cops and soldiers talk shop and give each other a hard time. I love it and I love weaving those experiences into my work.
